She returned without excitement, passively,
from beyond. Quietly, quickly emerging,
with no light for the new dawn.
Her eyes were dull and senseless, they had no
glint of truth. She smoked, drew coke, and left me,
enraptured by her youth.
I tried to take, but gave away, myself
to her cool air. Silently, sleeplessly, I left her,
reinforced without despair.
Again today I saw here, forgiving
every move. She looked past recognition,
as though I were not there.
